Get Involved

There is an urgent need for quality financial literacy education programs for low to moderate income families. These families are disproportionately affected by gun violence and other forms of violence that is most often undisclosed and unreported.   According to the FDIC Boston Alliance for Economic Inclusion:

Up to 20% of American families lack checking or savings accounts.

  • More than 25% of Americans households are asset poor. If their income flow is disrupted, their total savings, if any, will sustain them less than 3 months

  • Financial Literacy education works and can make a significant difference in the way people earn, save, spend and respect their money.

  • At least 43% of people without checking accounts opened one as a result of financial literacy education programs.

It is estimated that our programs will reach over 20,000 people by 2014. The following programs are offered:

  • SAVE – Students Against Violence Everywhere

  • GLAM – Growing Ladies Attitude Models

  • SMART – Single Moms Alone Raising Teens

  • PIPC - Peace is Powerful Café

  • STVC Annual Conference
